About: Eldie
Eldie (Lauren) DuRousseau is a licensed massage therapist with over +12 years of licensed experience. She is an alumnae to Texas Woman’s University (TWU) where she completed her undergrad in kinesiology with a focus in exercise science. During her time at TWU she helped establish and create the massage therapy service program for the university. This program still exists today. She provided massage services to staff and students alike. Her career expands from professional sports to holistic wellness. With over +12 years as a licensed massage therapist, she has had the opportunity to work within the medical, sports, holistic wellness industries and work independently to form a well-rounded understanding of what various communities' needs are. Notably she has worked with professional sporting leagues like Iron Man, International Weight Lifting Federation and the UFC. This experience has shaped her approach when catering to an individual by integrating science and holistic wellness for a personalized session.
A current student and practitioner of Curanderismo, she continues working within the community space to assist people with their healing journey. Curanderismo is a traditional folk medicine practiced in Latin America that combines Indigenous, Spanish and traditional African healing methods. Together these methods help assist a person on their healing journey by looking at the body, mind and spiritual body. She currently apprentices under Ixtoii Paloma Cervantes.
Curanderas, Shamans, Machis or traditional healers spend decades in training to master their craft. When Eldie was a child she was introduced to her most notable maestra, Margret Nunez. Marget was not only a healer but taught her to navigate the dream world, limpias or cleansings and medicinal herbs. This knowledge was impactful and has formed her reverence for traditional healing.
When Eldie is not working in massage or hosting workshops her efforts are focused on her daughter and humanitarian work. Her current areas of focus are on mycological advocacy and volunteering with Gay for Good-DFW. Preserving the land empowers healthy environments and cultivates healthy grounds for humans and animals to coexist. Ubuntu " I am because we are" meaning my existence would not be possible without community.
